I am a Partner in Business Recovery, where my focus is on working with stakeholders and their professional advisers to solve problems connected with stressed or underperforming businesses, and helping corporate clients release capital from their structures.
Having spent more than 10 years as a principal in a boutique practice, I have a first-hand understanding of some of the difficulties that business owners face and the importance of advisers listening and understanding what is required. We deploy a collaborative approach with other professionals that ensures that the client gets the advice and support that they need.
Rewarding aspects of my work have included guiding stakeholders to avoid the potential for value destruction that can be caused by an insolvency event, and the creation of innovative approaches to problems in insolvency processes. These approaches have included obtaining bar date orders for client money claims in an Investment Bank Special Administration and for a claims’ valuation mechanism for a UK registered Reinsurer as a lower cost alternative to a Scheme of Arrangement. These unique solutions materially increased the available funds for creditors.
Outside of work, my family and sport (particularly Football, Cricket, Major League Baseball, NFL and running – when not injured), occupies my time, the sport part perhaps more than it should. Any opportunity to be up a mountain or in/on a mountain lake makes my heart truly sing.
