I joined Menzies in 2002 to start my journey and ambition to become a qualified accountant and adviser. I am now a Senior Manager within our Accounts and Advisory team and head up Menzies’ Italian Desk.

What’s your story so far at Menzies?

I graduated from University with an Accountancy degree and knew that I wanted to pursue a career in this field. Menzies provided the structure, support and environment I needed to thrive and develop, building relationships with clients and colleagues along the way to then qualify as a Chartered Accountant in 2005. 

I started my career in external audit and, post qualification, was given the opportunity to manage a portfolio of audit and non-audit clients. Although quite daunting and challenging at the time, it was very rewarding and provided years of invaluable experience dealing with client in many sectors. 

How has your role changed since joining Menzies?

Over the years I gradually increased my focus on smaller owner managed businesses and was able to explore opportunities to also be able to assist international clients looking to set up in the UK. Being fluent in Italian and from an Italian background, I was able to use these skills to develop Menzies Italian Desk and expansion to the various International Desks at Menzies. My role now includes supporting and advising Italian owners and businesses with setting up in the UK. Menzies international reach with its HLB Network has also allowed me to explore this area. It is great being able to relate to the Italian culture and use my language skills which is not something I had envisaged when I first went into the profession. 

What do you love about working at Menzies?

My journey at Menzies has been amazing. I have seen the Firm grow over the years and its focus and emphasis on its people continues to be at the forefront. I now have three children and Menzies have supported me all the way and provided a great work-life balance. I am very proud to be part of such a diverse Firm, which provides lots of opportunities and a great working environment to be in.
