With Sage having discontinued Sage 50 Accounts and Sage 50cloud Accounts v26.2 at the end of September, and with Quickbooks Desktop due to be discontinued at the end of January 2023 – now could be the time to consider an update to your accounting software.
The discontinuation of these older versions of Sage are a result of changes they have made in line with industry-standard security protocols and means that customers using this software will no longer have access to the platform.
Quickbooks have suggested that their decision to cease support for the Desktop version arises on the back of recent changes to accounting and tax regulations – predominantly as the solution is not compliant with Making Tax Digital (MTD).
What are the advantages of a cloud-based accounting software?
Making the move to a cloud-based software will not only avoid non-compliance with MTD regulations, but also offers some real advantages:
Online Access
Online access to your accounts at any time from anywhere
Real time information
Direct bank feeds and real time information to support decision making
Add-ons
Available add-ons for specific business & sector needs and bespoke reporting
Automatic Software Updates
Automatic software updates, reducing downtime
Automation
Automation for reduction in duplication of tasks and human error
Cost-effective
A scalable, flexible and cost-effective solution
What system is best for you?
Both Sage and Quickbooks offer cloud-based accounting via their online platforms.
