We can provide comprehensive advice to individuals and businesses who are facing an HMRC enquiry or complex investigation. We can reduce the stress caused by providing a service which is tailored to your needs.
We can liaise with HMRC and guide you through the process and will try to obtain the best outcome for you. Whether you are an individual, a sole trader, partner in a partnership/LLP, have your own company, are a trustee or executor of an estate, we can assist you, as our team has the experience and the expertise to deal with these matters.
THE TAX INVESTIGATION SERVICE – FEE PROTECTION
We offer the Tax Investigation Service, which is an annual subscription that is backed by an insurance policy in Menzies’ name, held with Sandringham Insurance Ltd. If you subscribe to this service, we are able to make a claim for our fees in the event that you receive an enquiry from HMRC.
We recommend this service to all of our clients, as the cost of dealing with a tax enquiry is not included in your normal fees, and by paying the small annual subscription, the unexpected cost and stress of an enquiry is greatly reduced.
You will not have to worry about whether to ask for help, as your trusted advisor at Menzies will be able to assist with the enquiry, without charging you for their advice. They will already be familiar with your tax affairs, so will be in the best position to guide you through the enquiry. The Tax Investigation Service also allows other technical specialists within Menzies to assist if required, at no additional cost to you, thereby helping to achieve the best possible outcome.

In addition, where a company or partnership subscribes to the Tax Investigation Service, this will also protect the personal tax returns of any directors/partners (and their spouses), as long as we act for them personally. If any of these individuals has more than £50,000 of either gross rental income or sole trade turnover, they will need to sign up separately in their own names.
